I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
I had a great time off from blogging and spent quality time with my family. Our son enjoyed his first Christmas and our house exploded with baby toys. I think my house is shrinking.
This year was the first one I spent as a parent, and boy, did I notice a difference. Our Christmas ornaments were only on the top half of the tree, and after Santa’s visit, the tree itself was dwarfed by some of the largest Christmas gifts I’ve ever seen (why do they have to make kids toys so big??). This was all stuff I was expecting and it brought back my own childhood memories. Christmas was amazing.
New Years Eve was not. It was just OK; I witnessed the ball drop and kissed my husband at midnight. We did the staple New Years Eve things, but it was a far cry from things we did pre-baby.
My inner party animal used to come out to play on New Years Eve. I had a great group of friends and we would bring in the new year by drinking far too much, playing games, and doing stupid things in the wee hours. Stupid things that when sober you are embarrassed about, but drunk they are very, very fun and leave you with fond memories and tales you would never share with your parents.
This year, I think I became my parents.
Maybe the old days will return when I’m a little less sleep-deprived. :)
Happy New Year everyone! May your 2012 be awesome.
